Jeremy Paul “Bob” Debetaz, age 36, native of New Roads, Louisiana, passed away on April 27, 2024. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend. Known for his warm and giving nature, he was a social and humorous person who saw the good in everyone. He never met a stranger and cherished the relationships he formed throughout his life. He graduated from Louisiana Culinary Institute after graduating Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee. In his free time, Jeremy enjoyed singing and playing the guitar with friends, fishing, spending time outdoors, cooking, and savoring good food. In his true giving nature, with the help of the staff from Lane Memorial Hospital and LOPA, Jeremy was able to give the gift of life through organ donation. The family would like to thank the staff of Lane and LOPA for their excellent care and compassion towards Jeremy and the family during this difficult time. He is survived by his parents, Germaine and Brenda Debetaz, his sisters Renee Lashley (Larry), Marianne Rucker (Eric), Monica Berthier (Patrick), nieces, and nephews. Jeremy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Evelyn Beaud, and paternal grandparents, Victor and Fredda Debetaz. Visitation was Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads from 8:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church at 12:00 noon, officiated by Rev. Chris Decker. Interment took place at St. Mary Cemetery. Pallbearers included Patrick Berthier, Alex Debetaz, Brandon Derbes, Patrick Doucet, Dillon Fulmer, William Morrison, Nathan Ransome, and Eric Rucker.
