Born on 11/24/1939, died 6/17/2024 at 3:35 pm. He was 84 years old. Sidney was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Sidney was a quiet man with a sly smile and a hint of mischief and wit in his personality. He was also an avid hunter in his young years. Being outdoors among wildlife out in the woods- he felt most happy. He had many interests and talents. He loved training beagles to run rabbits, raising cattle in his spare time and enjoyed working as a gunsmith. He worked as a certified welder throughout his years but his pride and greatest achievement was becoming a welding instructor with the vocational school in New Roads. He loved passing on his knowledge and skills of welding to his students. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Billie Louise Freneaux Cavalier; two daughters, Tammy Riviere (Donald), Staci Gremillion (Dennis); five grandchildren, Joshua Pinsonat, Erin Loreno (Kyle), Dylan Gremillion (Anna), Kyle Riviere and Brogan Amond; six great grandchildren, Isabel, Christian, Kash, Kamryn, Benjamin and Becca; two sisters, Enola Triche and Gloria Falcon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Alma Cavalier; his daughter, Cynthia Cavalier; grandson, Jarred Pinsonat; siblings, Beatrice LeBlanc, Roy Cavalier, Sr., Leatrice Parent, Hilda Hebert, Floyd Cavalier and Loretta Hahn. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Livonia from 8:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Gremillion, Joshua Pinsonat, Kyle Riviere, Dylan Gremillion, Brogan Amond and Kyle Loreno. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donald Riviere, Kash Pinsonat, Christian Loreno and Benjamin Gremillion. Special thanks to Dr. Phillip Padgett, and Pointe Coupee Hospice for taking such good care of him.
