CITY OF NEW ROADS CITY COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
January 6, 2026
The New Roads City Council met in regular session at 5:30 o’clock P.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at the City Hall in New Roads, Louisiana. Mayor Theron Smith called the meeting to order. A roll call resulted as follows:
PRESENT: James Hunter, Kirk White, Cleotha Johnigan and Kurt Kellerman
ABSENT: Joy Nelson

Public comments on agenda items
There were no public comments.
Consent Calendar – Approval of Minutes of Regular Council Meeting of January 6, 2026
The minutes of the Regular Council meeting of January 6, 2026 were submitted for approval.
The reading of the minutes was waived.
Motion by Mr. White and seconded by Mr. Johnigan.
RESOLVED, That the minutes be adopted in their entirety.
The motion was unanimously carried.
Pump and Pond Update by Owen & White Engineers (K.Kellerman)
Joey Lutz gave an update on the water sector program projects.
Committee Reports
Mr. White stated that there were no changes at the airport.
Mayor’s Report
Mayor Smith announced his plans to attend the National League of Cities Congressional Conference and extended the invitation to the council members.
With no further business to come before the council, the meeting adjourned at 6:04 p.m.
