SPECIAL MEETING
January 27, 2026
The Pointe Coupee Parish Council met in special session at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Courthouse Annex in the Parish Council Meeting Room, New Roads, Louisiana.
Chairman Boudreaux called the meeting to order and directed Council Clerk Courtney D. Hurst to call the roll:
PRESENT: Messrs. Jimmie Gaspard, Sidney LaCoste, Edwin Soulier, Charles Watkins, Edward Bazile, Kurt Jarreau, and Dustin Boudreaux.
ABSENT: Mr. Paul Bergeron.
CONSIDER AMENDMENTS TO THE AGENDA
There were no amendments to the agenda.
PUBLIC COMMENTS ON AGENDA ITEMS
There were no public comments.
RESOLUTION – APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
Motion by Mr. LaCoste and seconded by Mr. Gaspard:
RESOLVED, That Messrs. Price Gay, James Saizon, and Johnny Pinsonat be appointed as members of the Pointe Coupee Parish Planning & Zoning Commission for a term of four (4) years.
Unanimously carried.
RESOLUTION – APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO FIRE DISTRICT BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS
Motion by Mr. Boudreaux:
RESOLVED, That Messrs. Dillon LaCour (District 1), Keith Courville (At Large), and Martin Frey (District 2) and Mrs. Robin Variest (At Large) be appointed as members of the Pointe Coupee Parish Fire Board of Commissioners for a term of two (2) years.
Substitute motion by Mr. Jarreau and seconded by Mr. Gaspard:
RESOLVED, That Messrs. Dillon LaCour (District 1), Martin Frey (District 2), and Robert Allen (At Large) and Mrs. Robin Variest (At Large) be appointed as members of the Pointe Coupee Parish Fire Board of Commissioners for a term of two (2) years.
YEAS: Messrs. Jimmie Gaspard, Sidney LaCoste, Charles Watkins, Edwin Soulier, and Kurt
Jarreau.
NAYS: Messrs. Edward Bazile and Dustin Boudreaux.
ABSTAIN: None.
ABSENT: Mr. Paul Bergeron.
On a vote of 5-2-0-1, the substitute motion passed.
The original motion by Mr. Boudreaux was thereby superseded and not voted upon.
RESOLUTION – APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO HEALTH SERVICES DISTRICT NO. 1.
Motion by Mr. Soulier and seconded by Mr. Bazile:

RESOLVED, That Messrs. Scott Devillier, Jared Gibbs, Dustin Boudreaux, and Trohn Blanchard be appointed as members of the Pointe Coupee Parish Health Services District No. 1 for a term of six (6) years.
Unanimously carried.
