Elsie Maxine Cobb-Wright, a New Roads native, received the St. Louis IX Service Award from New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond for outstanding service to the Catholic Church on May 15. The Order of St. Louis IX award was established in 1975 to honor laypersons who have made an extraordinary contribution of their time and talents to local churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Napa Valley learns about life on the river

Cultures crossed paths recently in downtown New Roads as Pointe Coupee Parish welcomed winemakers and wine purveyors from Napa Valley for the inaugural “Wine Down on False River.” The event featured the local flavors, retailers and artists of Pointe Coupee Parish. More than 700 local and visiting guests sipped and sampled wines poured by new friends from Napa Valley.
