Adele Bergeron Olinde passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 at the
age of 80. She was born on January 6th, 1946, to Wilmer and Cora Lee
Bergeron. Adele married her high school sweetheart, John Morris Olinde,
Jr., after graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University. She went on
to teach Home Economics at Poydras High School. She eventually went
back to school and received a Master of Library Science from Louisiana
State University. She spent the following 25 years working as a librarian at
Rosenwald Elementary School, Pointe Coupee Central High School, and
Livonia High School, where she shared her love of reading and books.
Adele retired from her job as a Pointe Coupee Parish educator and mentor
after over 30 years of service. During her retirement, she was able to devote
more time to her hobbies of sewing and gardening. She was a talented
seamstress who created beautiful and personal pieces for those she loved.
She also had an exceptional green thumb, and her yard was a testament to
her hard work and her love of flowers and plants.
While she accomplished much in her lifetime, her greatest pride and
deepest happiness came from being a grandmother. She was the epitome of
unconditional love and kindness, and encouraged her grandkids to share
their talents with others. She adored them, never missing a game, recital, or
a milestone, and treasured every minute spent with them.
Adele is survived by her daughters, Kelli LaCour (Gerard) and Renee
Daigrepont; her grandchildren, John, Katie, Andrew, and Jenna LaCour;
and Anna Gremillion (Dylan), Emma and John M. Daigrepont; and her two great-
grandchildren, Benny and Becca Adele Gremillion.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, John M.
Olinde, Jr, her father, Wilmer Bergeron, her mother, Cora Lee Bergeron,
and her brother, Alfred Bergeron.
All who knew Adele will remember her sweetness, her talents, and her
unwavering love for everyone. Though she will be deeply missed, her
beautiful spirit will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know
her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Lakeland, LA on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 11:00 am. Thank you to the entire staff at Lacour House for their compassionate care and kindness.
