Al Carlos Montelaro, a resident of Livonia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2026, at the age of 78.
Born on June 21,1947, in Fordoche, Louisiana, Al lived a life centered around family, faith, service, and the simple joys of the outdoors. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army and continued his service in the National Guard.
Al was known for his love of fishing, gardening, and woodworking, hobbies that reflected his patience, creativity, and appreciation for nature. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of LSU Women’s Basketball and rarely missed the chance to cheer on the Lady Tigers. In his community, Al gave generously of his time as a volunteer with the local Food Bank and was a devoted member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlo and Julia Montelaro.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Brown Montelaro; his daughters, Cathy LeJeune (Travis), Valerie Webre (Ken), and Lisa Dalfrey (Jason). He was a proud grandfather to Garrett Dalfrey (Chelsea), Zachary LeJeune (Leah), Haley Brooks (Ryan), Camille Webre (Cy Hebert), Ethan Webre, and Julia LeJeune (Dillon Wilson). He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Autumn, Myles, and Graham LeJeune, and Lily and Ivy Dalfrey.
Al is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Montelaro (Lynn McMorris), and his brother, Ricky Montelaro (Cindy).
Al will be remembered for his quiet strength, generosity, kindness of heart, sense of humor, and his devotion to his loving wife, family, and friends. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial immediately afterward at St. Frances Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and grandsons.
