Miller Matthewson “Matt” Armstrong passed away surrounded by family on October 16, 2022. He was born on June 24, 1958 in Refurgio, Texas. He lived most of his life in New Roads, Louisiana and the surrounding area. Matt was predeceased by his father, the Reverend Miller Francis Armstrong III. He is survived by his children, Rachel and Angus Armstrong, his mother Mary Ann Armstrong, brother Slater Armstrong, sisters Mary Martha Quinn and Dorothy Shemwell and their husbands David Quinn and Lad Shemwell, his nieces and nephews, Jack Quinn, Mary Frances Quinn, Ellie Quinn, Brooke Shemwell, Sarah Margaret Shemwell and Merritt Shemwell, his beloved cousins and innumerable friends that he loved as family. He was a friend to everyone he met and cherished any opportunity to help someone in need. He was an accomplished outdoorsmen and knew many swamps, bayous and tributaries throughout Louisiana and Texas and loved nothing more than sharing them with others. A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 630 Richland Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 11:30 a.m,. visitation from 9:30 til 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his daughter’s name (Rachel Armstrong) to support her missions and ministries through Youth with a Mission, in which she has served for the past eleven years.
