May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields, And, until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

And, may you walk in the sunshine of His love.

Brian Matthew Vosburg, beloved father, son, and brother, departed this earth unexpectedly on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of forty-four at his home in Baton Rouge. He was born on October 2, 1977, in Oxford, Mississippi. His death was the culmination of a twenty-six-year struggle with type 1 diabetes. He is survived by his sons, Matthew Kirk Vosburg and William Wallace Vosburg; parents, Charles and Jeanette Vosburg; three brothers, Benjamin Vosburg, Barrett (Misty) Vosburg, and Brock (Kendall) Vosburg; five nephews, Charlie, Ryder, Beau, Henry, and Rhe tt Vosburg; two nieces, Olivia and Quinn Vosburg; many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his faithful dog Pepper. Brian, a native of Pointe Coupee Parish, and long-time resident of Baton Rouge, grew up in New Roads, attended Catholic of Pointe Coupee School and earned a degree in Geology from Louisiana State University. He was a devoted father to his twin sons. As a scientist, Brian shared his love of nature with his sons, who were the light of his life. He was always seeking or creating teachable moments in every aspect of his sons’ lives. He was a geoscientist and spent the last two decades contributing to research efforts of government, academic, and private industry in the study of the lower Mississippi River. Brian was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter, sportsman, tinkerer, land cruiser aficionado, and self-taught musician who loved to strum his guitar. He will be remembered and missed by many. We will feel the warmth of his touch from happy memories. When those who knew him best think of Brian many things come to mind - he was always there to help, cargo pants, dirt, rocks, Mr. Gatti’s, LSU, a pint of beer, back booyah, and a spirited intellectual debate. As per his wishes, his remains will be cremated. Brian loved his family and friends and wouldn’t want them to mourn his loss, but to celebrate his life! Friends are invited to join Brian’s family to honor his memory and celebrate his life on Friday, September 9, 2022, at Satterfield’s, 108 East Main Street, New Roads, LA from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. His family asks you to please consider making a memorial donation in Brian’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www. jdrf.org.
