Ecclesiastes 3:1 Desmond Demond Cobb, Sr. was born on February 3, 1979, in New Roads, Louisiana to Nancy Ann Cobb-St. Cyr. and Larry Burnette. On February 21, 2023, Desmond gained his heavenly wings and was called to heaven by our Lord and Savior. He was the only child of Nancy, and the eldest grandchild. Desmond was raised in his grandparents’ home, and was loved like their own child. His love ones and family, who loved him dearly, affectionately called Desmond “Deekie.” He was that special nephew to his aunts and uncles. Desmond was baptized, attended CCD, and made his First Communion and Confirmation at St. Augustine Catholic Church. As a child, he was a member of the Junior Knights of St. Peter Claver. Desmond attended public school in the Pointe Coupee Parish School System and graduated from Pointe Coupee Central High School in 1999. He also graduated from Jumonville Technical College and achieved his Welding Diploma. Desmond leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother, Nancy, stepfather, Phillip St. Cyr., his three children, Kashondalyn, Kaitlyn and Desmond, Jr., a brother, Eyen Christopher, Aunts, Elsie Maxine (Michael) Wright, and Mary (Floyd) Marshall, Uncles, Duncan Cobb, Jr., and John (LyKeisha) Cobb, Great-Aunts, Marjorie Cobb-Thomas and Rose Mary Cobb, his Godparents, Monica Smith Celestin and Carl Wesley, Sr., the St. Cyr Family, and the mother of his children, Shonda Levy. Desmond’s surrogate aunts and uncles, Laverne (Charles) Aguillard, the Late Thomas J. (Carolyn) Smith, Agnes (Donald) Andrews, Belinda (Barry) Thompson, Valerie (Eric) Rogers, and Monica (Darryl) Celestine and many other relatives and friends.Desmond is preceded in death by his grandparents, Duncan and Agnes Cobb, Surrogate grandmother, Eugenia P. Smith, Great Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins. His funeral will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will start at 9:45 a.m. Burial in St. Augustine Cemetery.
