Dawna Raye Leonard McHand, resident of Batchelor, La. Born on October 25, 1964. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday March 14, 2026. She was a caring nurse for 25 years until she retired to take care of her husband’s business. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time in her flower beds and garden. She will be remembered for her one of a kind laugh, that could be heard in any crowd. She is proceeded in death by her mother in law, Ester McHand and granddaughter, Josephine Rose. Dawna is survived by her husband, Joseph McHand, Jr. Her children Megan McGrew (Jason), Abby Landry (Devin), Olivia McHand, and Nathan McHand. Her grandchildren Makenzie, Bryson, Lindsey, Annagrace, Parker, Holly, and Hendrick. Father and mother Joseph (Pete) and Laura Leonard. Father in law Wesley McHand, Sr. Her sisters Gaylen Dawson (Mac), Denise Leonard, and Josie McElroy. Her sister in laws Tina Hebert (Chuck) and Nickie Plauche (Slugger). And many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tommy Kirkland, Dusten Kirkland, Trevor Plauche, Turk Moore, Johnathon Dawson, Ryan Dawson. Honorary pallbearers Devan Plauche and Jason Leonard. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026 at New Life Worship Center in New Roads, La. 8-8:30 immediate family 8:30-11 friends and family. Religious services begin at 11:00. Burial to follow at Latanache Baptist Church in Batchelor, La.
