Mr. Glenn, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Emerson Phillip Comeaux and the former Elsie Mae St. Romain. Glenn was born and raised in New Roads, LA. As an only child, he learned the art of making good friendships and developed a great sense of humor and quick wit. A very special memory Glenn had with his father was attending the New Orleans Saints debut at Tulane Stadium in 1967. This led to a lifetime of love for New Orleans Saints Football. Another of his favorite childhood memories was attending the filming of "Easy Rider" in Morganza, LA, and watching multiple times the completed movie at The King Theater. In 2019, he thoroughly enjoyed attending the 50th anniversary of the filming in Morganza and was excited to visit with the local cast and other locals who shared his interest. After graduating from Catholic High of Pointe Coupee in 1973, Glenn moved to Lafayette to attend USL. Upon arrival, he asked if there were any Comeaux's here and was overjoyed to learn there were not only Comeaux's but a Comeaux High School. He immediately knew he was in the right place and truly loved the food and culture, often saying, "We're living in a good place".
In 1978, Glenn began his career with LUS at "Doc" Bonin Power Plant, eventually retiring after 33 years, in 2010. Over those years, he made many lasting friendships, and it was there that he earned the title "The Godfather". Glenn left an indelible mark, made many cherished memories, and multiple stories that only he could have created. Glenn will be remembered for his humility, kindheartedness, laid back personality, gift of spreading laughter to all he encountered, and often remarked resemblance to Paul McCartney, John Lennon, or Rod Stewart, with his unique hair style.
Glenn's love for God began when he served as an altar boy at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church. Over the years his faith grew but took on a more profound and special meaning in 2015 when he was diagnosed with Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystrophy (OPMD). He began to put more of his trust in God and recognized His presence in many encounters. Glenn carried his cross well, often acknowledging his cross was light in comparison to what Jesus endured for us:
"Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me." Matt. 16:24 NRSVCE
When Glenn was no longer able to attend Mass, he was blessed by having Mr. Jim Guillory, a devoted Eucharistic minister, visit him every Sunday. It was in those visits that Glenn was able to develop an even deeper faith and trust in God.
Glenn's grandchildren brought him immense joy. He treasured every phone call, Facetime, and in-person visit. Whether handing out cookies behind their mother's back, a ride on his scooter, playing "pop the pig", acting scared when they tried to sneak up on him, or just being plain silly with them, they were the light of his life. Glenn tried to instill his moral ethics and wisdom in his daughters, when they asked for advice he would respond, "Do you want the concept, or the reality?"
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Kathleen Anne Regan Comeaux; daughters, Erika Comeaux and Emily Comeaux (Tommy) Hebert; grandchildren, Avery Comeaux, Arabelle Comeaux, Thomas Hebert Jr, and Millie Hebert; sister-in-law, Becky Regan (Dale) Langford; aunt, Louise St. Romain Brooks; uncle, Riley Comeaux; and a host of cousins, nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Elsie Comeaux.
