Isreal was born on November 14, 1945 to the late Pearl Meyer Swift and Calvin Swift Sr. He was baptized at an early age by Rev. A Boykins of Fairyland Baptist Church in New Roads, Louisiana.
He entered into eternal rest on January 16,2026 at his home in Bronx, New York. Isreal was affectionally known as
"Beck" in New Roads and "Izzy" in New York.
He graduated from Rosenwald High school in 1965 and played the baritone horn in the marching band.
He moved to New York and lived on Central Park West where he enjoyed getting together with his brother Alton, his son Steven, his nephews Derrick and Craig, cousin Gray and friends.
Isreal worked for New York Hospital and he retired from Westchester County Medical Center in the Bronx.
During his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife, coming home to visit family and friends in New Roads, going bowling with his friends and buddies relaxing in front of his tv.
Not only did he watch football and baseball games but he knew all the rules of the games.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Calvin Swift, Sr.
Six brothers Clarence, L.C., Willie Roy, Alton, Clevelana and Calvin, one precious granddaughter Jaleb and other relatives and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories wife Dorthy Jean Swift, one sister Sabrina Swift Minor (Stanley Ray) of New Orleans, La., one son Steven Swift of New York, two brothers Jesse Swift of Dallas, Texas
James Isaac (Linda) Swift of New Roads, La, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial was held at R.C. Ortiz Funeral Home 2121 Westchester Ave. Bronx, New York.
