Thursday, June 11, 2026 will always be remembered by my family as the day our world shattered as our beautiful, sweet, loving mother lost her six year battle with cancer. Jimmie LaNell Massey Johnson was born September 28, 1942 in Peoria, Mississippi to parents Walter R. Massey and Annie Marie Hurst Massey. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Sonny, Harold, Donald and Walter Ray “Fred” Massey, sister Helen Marie Massey Bissett and husband Charles R. Johnson. She is survived by her sole remaining sibling Norma Dean Massey Hicks. Her legacy lives on in her three children, Rena McMickens (Scott), Angelia Pena (Robert) and Lynda David (Ray), our sister in love, Cristal Bissett Miller, her beloved grandchildren Ashley Foster (Adam), Justin David (Adele), Adam Pena (Melita), Joshua David, and her precious great granddaughter Charlotte Rose Foster. She was our rock, the center of our universe and while we’re grateful that she is no longer suffering, our lives are forever changed. We were so lucky to have Jimmie LaNell Massey Johnson as our Mom, our children to have her as their Grandma and our sweet Charlotte Rose to have her as an adoring Granny. We love you, Mama! You will be forever missed!
