Labatut, Vivian Hebert

Vivian Hebert Labatut entered eternal rest on September 20, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Fordoche, La., on May 24, 1932, she and her husband, Francis (Son), made their home in New Roads, La., where they lovingly raised five children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Vivian filled their home with laughter, joy, and delicious meals. A parishioner of St. Mary of False River Catholic Church, she faithfully attended Mass and enjoyed participating in her ladies’ prayer group. Vivian had a keen interest in politics and eagerly served at the polls on election days. She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (George) Ohrberg; son, Charles (Janet) Labatut; daughter, Lisa (Joseph) Wirtz; grandchildren, Rickey (Becky) Labatut, Jr., Erik (Kelly) Labatut, Tiffany Labatut Broussard, Matthew (Amber) Ohrberg, Meagan Wirtz, and Jennifer Ohrberg; greatgrandchildren, Dylan (Cassidy) Labatut, Ty (Brooklyn) Labatut, and June Ohrberg; great-greatgrandchild, Paisley Labatut; sister, Helen Coulter; sister-in-law, Dolly Metrejean; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Labatut.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Francis Ray Labatut; sons, Rickey Labatut, Sr., and Jeffery Labatut; parents, Rudolph and Nita Gros Hebert; sisters, Virgie Guerin, Anna Mae Frame, and Ethel Harrell; brothers, John, Welton, Donald, and Robert Hebert. Visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at False River Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Rickey Labatut, Jr., Erik Labatut, Dylan Labatut, Ty Labatut, Steve Hebert, and George Ohrberg. Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Harrell and Joseph Wirtz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Vivian’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pointe Coupee Healthcare and Pointe Coupee Hospice. A reception will be held at St. Mary’s Parish Hall following the services.
