Posted

“Heavy Duty” passed away unexpectedly at 2am on Monday, May 11, 2026 at his home in Fordoche, Louisiana at the age of 66. Joey was born on the banks of False River and lived his whole life in Livonia and Fordoche.  He traveled the country extensively chasing his lifelong passion as an Ironworker out of Local 623 and had just retired this year after 36 years of service.  He was known as “Heavy Duty” in Local 623 and in Locals across the country where he worked and led crews in nuclear power plants.  Some of Joey’s greatest passions in life at a young age, were fast horses and faster cars.  Joey would race anything, anywhere, anytime.  Joey also would work, tinker with, fix and repair engines and computers, and rebuilt his home twice.  Anything that needed to be fixed, he would fix.  He would also help anyone who needed help, but his greatest passion was his family, Becky, his children, her children and grandchildren.  Joey, your life was a blessing to all of us, especially for Becky and all of yalls children and grandchildren, especially, Lil Alex.  Your memory will be a treasure always!  You are loved beyond words, and respected by all who knew you.  You will be missed beyond measure!  When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure!  May our memories give our heart, mind, and soul peace and comfort!  Lord let Your mercy be on us as we place our trust in You. Psalm 33. Joey is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rebecca “Becky” Doucet; children, Renee, Savanah (Beau), Alexander, Laura, Christy, Kimberly (Vicki), Audrey, and Cheyenne (Jacob); grandchildren, Adrian, Ava, Walker, Sidney, Kyla, Benjamin, Jacob, Olivia, Becca, and on the way, Everett; great grandchildren, Gracie and Kayde; siblings, Stacy Cashio (David), Jerome (Kristie), Jolisa Barbera and Stephanie LeJeune; godmother, Jenny Donovan; and godchildren, Kayla DiBenedetto and David Cashio, Jr; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Joey is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Joseph Doucet, Sr. and Shirley Donovan Doucet; brother, Dwayne Paul “Pauly D” Doucet; and his godfather, Euclid Doucet, Jr. The visitation will be held at Fordoche Baptist Church in Fordoche on Thursday, May 14, 2025 from 9:00 am until the religious service begins at 11:00 am. Services will be conducted by Brother Toby Delahoussaye. Pallbearers will be Jacob Harrison, Ralph Ardoin, Red Gordon, and Jerome Doucet. Honorary pallbearers will be Master Alexander Doucet and Gordon Sorrey. All are invited to join and share memories and condolences with the family and friends after the services. Memorial donations may be made in Joey’s memory to Pointe Coupee Autism Community Advocate.
