Percy Henry Manuel, 77, of Ventress, Louisiana, passed away after a long battle with cancer February 23, 2026.
Percy was born on September 14, 1948, to the late JB Manuel and Agnes DeVille Manuel.
He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, Percy earned his bachelors degree from Louisiana State University. He went on to dedicate 30 years of service to the State of Louisiana, ultimately retiring as Budget Director.
Percy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially fishing, cooking and gardening. He was a devoted family man and is survived by his loving wife, Martha Gabour Manuel; his sons, Byron Manuel and Paul Manuel; his daughters, Erica Gauthier and her husband Mike, and Saundra Manuel; and his cherished grandchildren, Jean Manuel, Samantha Manuel, Kellan Manuel, and Caitlin Gauthier. He is also survived by his sisters, Trenetta Granger and her husband Joe, and Shelia Leonards and her husband Lloyd.
Percy will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his deep sense of responsibility, and his quiet but steady presence in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of service—to his country, his state, and his family—will live on through the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads, La. on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 5 pm until 8 pm, with the recitation of the rosary at 7 pm. Visiting will resume on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 8 am until 9:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in St. Francisville, La. at 10 am, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
