Raymond Haynes Garrett, Sr. left this world peacefully on June 15, 2026 to join his heavenly father. Raymond was 77 years old, born on August 27, 1948 in New Roads, LA. He graduated from St. Joseph Academy in New Roads in 1966. He attended LSU in Baton Rouge and then went on to graduate from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA as a Pharm-D. He worked in many locations in Louisiana before opening his own drugstore in New Roads. He operated Raymond’s Family Pharmacy for over 30 years. He also served as New Roads City Councilman for 10 years. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, S.N, Garrett, Jr. and his wife, Johnnie Ruth Haynes; a sister, Ann Elizabeth Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Carol Corley Garrett; his sons, R Haynes Garrett, Jr. and wife, Annie, and Nelson Garrett. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Izabell, Emma, and Grayson Garrett, Ayden Sheppard and Jayden Warren. Raymond’s surviving siblings are Barbara G. Roberts, Lucille St. Romain and husband, Kenneth, Aimee G. Sansing and Stephen N. Garrett III and wife, Cindy.The visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 9:30 am until the religious service begins at 11:00 am. The entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery. In lieu flowers donations can be made to American Lung Association and St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery fund.
