2 Timothy 4:7

I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.

With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected death of Sheila Ann Solomon. Sheila, a native and resident of New Roads, Louisiana left her earthly dwelling on Friday, April 4, 2025 to begin a new journey with her Lord and Savior. Sheila was born on August 8, 1960 to her parents Joseph Ivy Solomon and Joyce Solomon. She graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1978 and attended LSU. Sheila was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #41. She was employed with the postal service in beautiful St. Francisville, LA. Sheila thoroughly enjoyed her work at the post office because it involved talking and laughing with so many different people. Many of the patrons shared the bounty of their vegetable gardens, fishing trips, and hunting trips. She would often share those items with her family and friends with a story about the person who had given them to her. Sheila thought the Audubon Market in St. Francisville was the best creation ever because you could buy everything you needed in one stop...including dessert. She would send text messages to let you know what was on sale and suggest that somebody should try to cook a dish for Sunday dinner. She would bring the dessert. Sheila gave generously of her time and energy to ensure everyone in her circle was taken care of to the best of her ability. She would raise an eyebrow when correction was needed and flash a bright smile when all was well. A raised voice was unnecessary. Sheila is survived by her only child, Joshua Xavier Solomon, who experienced the fierce love of a mother who cherished that role more than anything. Sheila is also survived by her sister, Ketra (Ray) Adolph and her brother Ivy Christopher Solomon. Survivors also include a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, special neighbors, and dear friends. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Ivy Solomon and Joyce Hartford Solomon, her brother, Joseph Myron Solomon, paternal grandparents Ivy and Laura Solomon, and maternal grandparents, Mel and Ivory Hartford. The funeral was held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in New Roads, LA. with Father Joseph Benjamin S.S.J. officiating. The viewing and rosary began at 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Active pallbearers were Ray Adolph, Edward Bazile, Rev. Anthony Bridgewater, David Daisy, Raphael Porche Jr., and Jordan Stafford. Interment immediately followed in the St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Verrette’s Pointe Coupee Funeral Home in New Roads.
