Stephen Michael Delatte, a resident of New Roads, Louisiana passed away while doing what he loved, fishing. He was a native of Lottie, Louisiana and attended Livonia High School. He was a structural fitter at Nugent Steel where he worked and rode with his brother-in-law Glynn Chutz for 40+ years. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was also an avid sports fan, especially LSU. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elaine Chutz Delatte; his son, Justin Delatte (Haley) and daughter, Allison Scheeler (Blake); five grandchildren, Presley, Jude, and Chloe Delatte and Luke and Reid Scheeler; mother-in-law, Onelia Chutz; aunts, Judy Varnum (Ben) and Sandy Delatte; brothers-in-law, Charles Ray Chutz (Sandra), David Chutz (Becky), Glynn Chutz (Lisa), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Delatte; grandparents, Hubert and Odile Delatte; granddaughter, Adalynn Delatte; and father-in-law, Charles Gordon Chutz.

Visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 9:30-11:45 am. The memorial mass will be held at St. Mary of False River at 12 noon. Interment will follow at False River Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family would like to thank everyone for all of the prayers, love, and support, especially the men and women who assisted the morning of his death.
