1936-2026 Mrs. Theresa Ann Cambre (nee Aguillard), a devoted educator and cherished member of her community, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Youngsville, Louisiana. She was 89 years old.
Born on July 18, 1936, in New Roads, Louisiana, Theresa was the daughter of Philip and Edna Aguillard. She grew up in New Roads, she graduated from St. Josephs Academy and continued her education at Louisiana State University, where her studies prepared her for a lifelong vocation in teaching.
Theresa dedicated much of her professional life to nurturing young minds. She began her career at St. Joseph’s Academy in New Roads as both a teacher and basketball coach, instilling discipline and enthusiasm in the classroom and on the court. Later, she continued her teaching journey at St. Mark’s Catholic School in Chalmette, where she taught English, Reading, and Spelling with care and commitment. Beyond the classroom, Theresa was deeply involved in her faith community. She served as an active member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Slidell offering spiritual support and service to others. She also participated in the Petroleum Wives Club in Slidell, forming lasting friendships through shared experiences. Theresa Ann Cambre leaves behind a legacy of faith, education, and service that touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
Theresa was preceded, in death by her beloved husband, Joseph T. Cambre as well as her parents, Philip and Edna Aguillard. She is lovingly remembered by her devoted son, Mark Cambre; and grandsons, Dalen Cambre and Hunter Cambre.
A Rosary will begin at 9:45am and Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Hall. Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm with Interment in False River Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, enrollment of Masses will be accepted. Niland’s Funeral Service Inc., New Roads, is in charge of arrangements.
