A native of Morganza, La. and resident of Ventress, La., he passed away at his home on Monday, July 31, 2023 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 82. He served in the U.S. National Guard after graduating from Morganza High School, he retired from Big Cajun Power Plant and owned and operated Vosburg’s A/C and Heating. Poppa was a well-respected, fun loving, church going man. He loved nature, hunting, fishing the Mississippi river and traveling the mountains. Often you would find him in his shop taking things apart, working on them and putting everything together cleaned and in working order like so many men of that generation, resilient! Most nights he would fall asleep with his rosary nearby listening to his favorite music. He was a role model to his children and grandsons, instilling in them honesty and a good work ethic. He leaves behind a wife of 62 years, Gerry Jewell Vosburg, and only daughter, Debbie Vosburg Gautreau (Chad); two sons, Jeff and Ken Vosburg (Dee); four grandsons, Erik, Matthew and Bailey Vosburg and Landon Gautreau; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Chad Vosburg; parents, Edgar and Louisette Mix Vosburg; sisters, Marlene Pourciau, Jane Landry, Hilda Kemp and Shirley Vosburg; brothers, Riley, Ronald and Steven Vosburg. Special thanks to the staff of Pointe Coupee Hospice, especially Warren Pourciau and his caregiver, Charmin. You will be greatly missed poppa but forever in our hearts. A visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 10:30 am until 1:15 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Roads at 1:30 pm, follow by the interment in False River Memorial Park.
Even though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
