A native of LaBarre, La. and resident of Lakeland, La., passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:09 am at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, La. He was the former owner of A&B Electronics, where he sold and serviced televisions and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dianne Murray Crochet; son, Michael Crochet of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; step son, Joseph Langlois (Addie) of Ventress and special nephew John Jarreau, Jr.; sister, Marie Crochet Swindler of Baton Rouge; brother, Welton Crochet of Lakeland; sistersin- law, Audrey Chenevert Crochet of Erwinville, Joyce Pickering Crochet Cowart of Zachary. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edmond and Lena LeBlanc Crochet; brothers, Lavoide (Buddy) Crochet, Roger Joseph Crochet; sisters, Pearl Crochet Arnold, Shirley Crochet Jackson, Ida Mae Crochet Hall and Lillian Crochet Rosar; sister-inlaw, Joan Ruiz Crochet; brothers-in-law, Henry J. Arnold, Creyton Hall, Vincent Rosar and Claude Swindler. A visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Hall in Lakeland on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 8 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the church at 10 a.m., the entombment will be in False River Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Michael Crochet, Joe Langlois, John Jarreau, Jr., Robert Crochet, James Crochet and Jesse Knapp.

Age 68, a native of New Roads and resident of Fordoche, Patricia Ann Gros passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 6:52 pm. She enjoyed spending time with her three grandsons, listening to Swamp Pop music and playing on Tik Tok. Greg was born on June 4, 1950, to C.D. and Aline Talbot Garrett. He was a graduate of Poydras High School in New Roads and received degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University and LSU. Stonaker, Betty Laurent Jarreau

Betty Laurent Jarreau Stonaker of Fredericksburg, Texas died on the 21st of October 2020 at home with her family. Betty was born Marie Elizabeth Laurent on August 4, 1936 in New Roads, Louisiana to Arthur Laurent and Josephine Bourg Laurent. She is survived by her three sons Jim Jarreau of Fredericksburg, Texas, Johnny Jarreau & Mary Stelly Jarreau of Lakeland, Louisiana, and Jody Jarreau & Bryan Demarie of Dallas, Texas. Her Texas Son John Dubea, Friedricksburg, Texas, along with her sister Cindy Laurent Conner of Port Aransas, Texas. Five grandchildren, Jordan Jarreau, Jamie Jarreau, Jessie Jarreau, David Olinde and Stuart Olinde. Brothers Arthur Jr. and Jerry Laurent of New Roads, Louisiana. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Billy Pat, Will, and Al Laurent, of New Roads, Louisiana and husbands Wilton Jarreau and Clifton Stonaker. Memorial fund established in Betty’s name supporting Susan G. Komen to help fight breast cancer. Special thanks to Windcrest Nursing Home and Hill Country Hospice. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her Texas and Louisiana families, grand-children, nieces & nephews, cousins, and so many friends. She will live in our hearts forever. LaBorde, Dorothy LeBlanc

A native and resident of Morganza, LA, Dorothy LeBlanc LaBorde passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Baton Rouge General surrounded by her two daughters. “Ms. Dot” was born August 10, 1933. After working several other jobs, she owned and operated LaBorde’s Grocery in Morganza, LA with her husband where she made a huge impact on many lives. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Morrison (John) and Jonna Fremin (Blair); two grandsons, Derek Fremin (Danielle) and Dustin Fremin (Angel); three great grandsons Joseph, Tristan, and Jacob Baker; and one sister, Bernice Songy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Camille N LaBorde; brothers, Claude, Norman, Carroll, and Nolan LeBlanc; sister, Josephine Crochet. A private graveside service was held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Morganza, LA on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:00 am. The family of “Ms. Dot” would like to extend their sincere thanks to her caretakers, Irene Derosin, Jennifer Fountain, Janet LeBlanc, and Arieina LeBlanc, Pointe Coupee Homebound Health, Dr. Carl McLemore, The LaCour House and staff and the staff at the Baton Rouge General - Bluebonnet.

Debetaz, Jeremy Paul “Bob”

Jeremy Paul “Bob” Debetaz, age 36, native of New Roads, Louisiana, passed away on April 27, 2024. He was a beloved son, brother, and friend. Known for his warm and giving nature, he was a social and humorous person who saw the good in everyone. He never met a stranger and cherished the relationships he formed throughout his life. He graduated from Louisiana Culinary Institute after graduating Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee. In his free time, Jeremy enjoyed singing and playing the guitar with friends, fishing, spending time outdoors, cooking, and savoring good food. In his true giving nature, with the help of the staff from Lane Memorial Hospital and LOPA, Jeremy was able to give the gift of life through organ donation. The family would like to thank the staff of Lane and LOPA for their excellent care and compassion towards Jeremy and the family during this difficult time. He is survived by his parents, Germaine and Brenda Debetaz, his sisters Renee Lashley (Larry), Marianne Rucker (Eric), Monica Berthier (Patrick), nieces, and nephews. Jeremy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Evelyn Beaud, and paternal grandparents, Victor and Fredda Debetaz. Visitation was Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Niland’s Funeral Home in New Roads from 8:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church at 12:00 noon, officiated by Rev. Chris Decker. Interment took place at St. Mary Cemetery. Pallbearers included Patrick Berthier, Alex Debetaz, Brandon Derbes, Patrick Doucet, Dillon Fulmer, William Morrison, Nathan Ransome, and Eric Rucker. Guerin, Peggy Elaine Stafford

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Peggy Elaine Stafford Guerin, 61, of Glynn, after bravely enduring a long illness. She is survived by her loving husband Jeryl Lee Guerin, cherished son Tristan Thomas Chauvin, mother Donnye Smith Nash, stepmother Elizabeth Pearce Stafford, sisters Vicki Stafford Marshall, Ashley Stafford Collins, Wendi Stafford Hebert (Johnny), and numerous nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her grandparents Carter Allen Stafford, Sr., Wincie Kyzar Stafford, Donald H. Smith, Jr., Elaine DeCarlo Langlois, her brother Chris Cagle III, and her father Alton Lionel Stafford. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Peggy’s life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11am at St. Paul’s Holy Trinity Episcopal Church located at 605 E Main Street, New Roads, LA 70760. Following the service, food will be served as a symbol of unity and remembrance.

Jarrreau, James Alvin

James Alvin Jarreau passed away on April 25, 2024 at the age of 77. A loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend was a native of Erwinville, LA and resident of Livonia, LA. He was drafted and served in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart pinned on him by General Westmoreland and personally handed him a letter of commendation. He fought in the Battle of Suoi Tre LZ Gold in which he was wounded and lost close friends in the battle. Throughout his work years as a welder, employee of WBR Parish, City of New Roads Police Department, and heavy equipment operator, he never met a stranger. He loved to “ride the road” and could never sit still for long. His love for our Lord was great and he shared his faith with all he met. He is survived by his wife, Vikki Triola Jarreau; sons, Damian Jarreau (Nancy), Travis Jarreau, and Jeremiah Jarreau; stepdaughter, Kristin Smith (Mike); grandchildren, Angela Jarreau and Victoria Jeffrey; siblings, Yvonne Chenevert, Frances Simon, Frank Jarreau, Michael Jarreau, and Roland Jarreau; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Doris Jarreau and infant daughter, Angela Theresa Jarreau. The visitation was held at New Life Worship Center in New Roads on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Pastor Jimmy Babin. Interment followed at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA. Pallbearers were Damian Jarreau, Travis Jarreau, Frank Jarreau, Michael Jarreau, Roland Jarreau, Larry Chenevert, Paul Simmon, and Brett Jarreau. The family would like to give thanks to Pointe Coupee Healthcare, Louisiana War Veteran’s Home, and especially to Janice Batiste, his caregiver.
