Richard Bruce Minogue Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on January 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at age 88. Dick was born in Chicago on February 24, 1935 and though he was a Northerner by birth, he remained a Southerner by choice. Upon moving to New Roads in 1979, he fell in love with the family, the community and the charm of South Louisiana. The cherry on top of the Pecan tree was the quaint 9-hole golf course which he enjoyed playing with his golf buddies. Richard was an active and exceptional athlete, graduating from Calumet High School in Chicago with scholarships in baseball, wrestling, and football. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma University, a Master’s degree from AFIT in Dayton, Ohio and later a law degree from LSU. During his decorated military career in the U.S. Air Force, Dick worked as a Flight Navigator, Air Rescue Officer, Missile Crew Commander, Maintenance Officer, Procurement Officer and Detachment Commander. Dick served proudly with distinction in Vietnam. He traveled globally and while living abroad in Okinawa, he met his future bride Lynn Langlois of New Roads who was there working with the D.O.D. as an educator. The two were married in June of 1968 and for 55 years he continued to call her “my bride”. After 22 years of service, Dick retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel and he and Lynnie settled in New Roads where they raised their two boys. Upon graduation from LSU Law School in 1982, he began his second career, going on to practice with Kearney, Smith, and Chustz where he later became a partner. Richard is preceded in death by his infant son, Michael, father Harry, mother Amy, and brothers Gene and Michael. He is survived by his bride of 55 years, Lynnie, daughters Michelle Momany (Corey), and Mary Kendell (Mark), sons Richard Bruce Jr. and William (Luka) and his beloved grandchildren Dale, Sophia, Regan, Hagen, Vivien, and Cohen. A Christian Mass will be held at 12 o'clock in St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, January 18th, 2024. The interment to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers. Lynnie would like to thank Dr. Doucet, Dr. Deumite, Homebound Health and Hospice, Stephanie, Jennifer, Shemelda, Michelle and Cherie and a special thank you to all the family and friends for the care, kindness and support given to them by so many in the community. May Dick rest in God’s love.
