Leon Dixon, World War II veteran and successful businessman, dies at 104

Leon Dixon, whose life transitioned from sharecropper to World War II soldier and later a successful businessman, died today after a brief illness.

Dixon was 104. He was one of the state’s oldest living World War II veterans at the time of his death.  

Dixon spent his life defying odds.

La. State Police: Two dead in vehicle crash on U.S. 190

OSCAR – Louisiana State Police Troop A is investigating the cause of a two-vehicle crash that claimed two lives today along a stretch of U.S. 190 in Pointe Coupee Parish.

The crash, which occurred east of La. 978 took the lives of Barbara Dobard Rigby, 69, and 98-year-old Maynette Dobard, both of Alexandria, according to Trooper Christian Reed, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police.
